I am the daughter of Holocaust survivors.
Although my parents seldom spoke of the Holocaust, as a child I have absorbed their unspoken words...
Much of my work referring to this period are oil paintings on large canvases, and large portraits in charcoal, depicting helplessness, loss of identity and fear of catastrophes that might occur at anytime, anywhere, to anybody.
When I started dealing with this subject, the techniques I used before were not adequate. I needed a new artistic language.
I applied black color, and than I erased it with a sponge.
I used yellow color as well, representing, on one hand shame and helplessness, and on the other hand it stands for all that is warm, free and renewed.
These colors, the images and the technique I use allow me to express my deepest emotions and anxiety.
